একটুকরো লাল রঙের কাপড়ের যেমন বলার মত কোন মূল্য নেই তেমনি একটুকরো সবুজ রঙের কাপড়ের ক্ষেত্রেও তাই।আবার ও দুটোকে একসাথে জোড়া লাগানোর পরও খুব বেশি পরিবর্তন হয়না।কিন্তু যখন পরিমাপ করে সবুজ কাপড়ের মাঝে গোল করে লাল একটুকরো কাপড় জোড়া লাগিয়ে দেওয়া হয় তখন?সেটা হয়ে ওঠে অমূল্য।সেটা তখন আমরা বুকে ধরি। সেই কাপড়টি যখন একটা লাঠির মাথায় বেঁধে আকাশে ওড়াই তখন আমরা অপলোক তার দিকে তাকিয়ে থাকি।পতাকা হলো একটি দেশের পরিচয় বহনকারী এবং নিদর্শন স্বরুপ।অবস্থার পরিবর্তনের সাথে সাথে একটা কাপড় কতটা মযার্দাপুর্ন হয়ে ওঠে তার দৃষ্টান্ত এটা।যেমন একটুকরো সাদামাটা কাপড় যখন আল কুরআনের গিলাফ হিসেবে ব্যবহৃত হয় তখন সেই কাপড়ের টুকরোটি হাত থেকে পড়ে গেলে সাবধানে সেটা উঠিয়ে আমরা চুমু খাই।এটা কিন্তু ওই কাপড়ের প্রতি সম্মান দেখানো নয় বরং কাপড়টি যার ছোয়া পেয়ে ধন্য হয়েছে তাকে সম্মান দেখানো।শেখ সাদীর জীবনের একটি ঘটনা আমরা জানি।সাধারণ পোষাকে তিনি যখন একটা দাওয়াতে উপস্থিত হয়েছিলেন তখন তাকে কেউ সম্মান দেখায়নি,চিনতেও পারেনি এবং সেখানে ঢুকতে দেয়নি।পরে যখন তিনি ভাল পোষাক পরে উপস্থিত হলেন তখন তাকে যথাযথ সম্মান দেখানো হলো।বাকি ঘটনাটা আমরা এখানে না বললেও চলবে।আমরা বলতে চাইছি একই ভাবে যখন লাল সবুজের কাপড় সাদামাটা ভাবে জোড়া লাগানো হয় তখন তা ততোটা মযার্দা পায়না যতটা পায় পতাকা হিসেবে।লাল সবুজের ওই পতাকায় মিশে আছে আমাদের ভালবাসা ও শ্রদ্ধা।
কিন্তু আফসোস দিন যতই গড়াচ্ছে ওই পতাকার প্রতি আমাদের ভালবাসা ও শ্রদ্ধা ততোই কমে যাচ্ছে।আপাত দৃষ্টিতে দেখলে মনে হবে আগের তুলনায় পতাকার প্রতি ভালবাসা বেড়েছে কিন্তু ওটার অধিকাংশই মেকি ভালবাসা ও শ্রদ্ধা।
তবে কি আমরাও আমেরিকার মত পতাকাকে একটুকরো কাপড় ভাবতে শুরু করেছি?একটু খেয়াল করলে দেখবেন আমেরিকানরা পতাকাকে আমাদের মত ভালবাসে না শ্রদ্ধাও করে না।তারা পতাকাকে অন্য আর একটুকরো কাপড়ের মতই মনে করে।তাই তারা পতাকা দিয়ে অর্ন্তবাস তৈরি করে,পতাকা দিয়ে তারা বিকিনি তৈরি করে।তার পর সেটা সারা বিশ্বে ছড়িয়ে পড়ে।এই ঢাকা শহরের দোকানেও আমেরিকান পতাকার অর্ন্তবাস কিনতে পাওয়া যায়।
আমরা অনেক রক্তের বিনিময়ে লাল সবুজের এই পতাকাটি পেয়েছি তাই পতাকার প্রতি আমাদের যে ভালবাসা আছে তা পৃথিবীর আর কারো থাকার কথাও নয়।কিন্তু দিন দিন নানা ভাবে আধুনিকতার নামে আমরা পতাকাকে তুচ্ছজ্ঞান করছি।জেনে কিংবা না জেনে পতাকার মযার্দা ক্ষুন্ন করছি।জাতীয় দিবসে আমরা ভালবেসে পতাকা ওড়াই।কিন্তু একদিন পরই দেখি সেই পতাকা ধুলোয় গড়াগড়ি খাচ্ছে।অনেক সময় দেখি পতাকা একবার আকাশে ওড়ানোর পর তা আর নামানো হচ্ছেনা।পতাকা বাতাসে,ঝড় বৃষ্টিতে একদিন ছিড়ে নষ্ট হচ্ছে।
ভয়াবহ ব্যাপার হচ্ছে দশ টাকা দিয়ে যে হাতে ধরা পতাকা আমরা কিনছি তা অনুষ্ঠান শেষে কিংবা পরেরদিনই রাস্তায় লুটোপুটি খাচ্ছে।আমরা গত কাল যে পতাকাকে বুকে ধরেছিলাম পরদিন সেটিই আমাদের গাড়ির চাকার নিচেয়,নিজেদের পায়ের নিচেয় পিষ্ট হচ্ছে।শুধুকি এক টুকরো পতাকাকে পা দিয়ে দলিত করছি?পক্ষান্তরে এটাকি দেশটাকেও পদদলিত করা নয়? জাতীয় পতাকার প্রতি অবহেলা,অনাদরের ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে নির্মিত একটি স্বল্পদৈর্ঘ্য চলচ্চিত্র ‘লাল সবুজের পতাকা’। যেখানে ফুটে উঠেছে বাংলাদেশের বিভিন্ন জাতীয় দিবসে জাতীয় পতাকার প্রতি মানুষের অতিরিক্ত আগ্রহ এবং ভালোবাসার যে চিত্রটি দৃশ্যমান, তার বিপরীতে জাতীয় দিবসের বাইরে, অন্যান্য সাধারণ সাদামাটা দিনে সেই একই জাতীয় পতাকার প্রতি মানুষের আগ্রহের যেমন অভাব, তেমনি রয়েছে এক ধরনের অবহেলা ও অজ্ঞতা।
কাগজে লাল সবুজের পতাকা ছাপানো হচ্ছে এবং সেটা জাতীয় দিবসে সুতোয় বেধে রাস্তায় ঝোলানো হচ্ছে নিবার্চনী পোষ্টারের মত। সেটাও রোদ,বৃষ্টি,ঝড়ে নষ্ট হচ্ছে।আমেরিকানদের বিকিনিতে পতাকা ব্যবহার করার মত পযার্য়ে যেতে কি বেশি সময় লাগবে?
লাল সবুজের পতাকা আমাদের অহংকার।এটি পাওয়ার জন্য আমাদের পুবর্পুরুষেরা যে আত্মত্যাগ স্বীকার করেছে তা আমাদের মনে রাখতে হবে।পতাকাকে শুধু মাত্র একটুকরো কাপড় ভাবলে চলবেনা।
হরহামেশা দেখছি গাড়িতে ইচ্ছেমত পতাকা ঝোলানো হচ্ছে।নিজ দেশের পতাকা ব্যবহার করার অধিকার প্রত্যেকেই রাখে তবে সেটার একটা নীতিমালা থাকা উচিত। ব্যক্তিপযার্য়ে জাতীয় পতাকা ব্যবহারের কোন বিধান আছে কিনা আমার জানা নেই।যদি থাকে তবে সেটিকে কাযর্কর করতে হবে।সবাইকে জানাতে হবে।আর যদি না থাকে তবে এখনি সময় জাতীয় পতাকা ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে নীতিমালা প্রণয়নের।তা না হলে একদিন আমাদের দুঃখের সীমা থাকবেনা যেদিন আমেরিকানদের মত হয়ে যাবে।
অন্য দেশ ও জাতি তাদের পতাকাকে সম্মান দেখাক বা না দেখাক তাতে আমাদের কিছু যায় আসেনা কিন্তু লাল সবুজের পতাকা তুচ্ছ কোন একটুকরো কাপড় নয়।সেটার প্রতি যথাযথ সম্মান দেখাতে হবে।নির্ধারিত সময়ের মধ্যে পতাকা নামাতে হবে।
অনেক রক্ত,প্রাণ আর সম্ভ্রমের বিনীময়ে অর্জিত পতাকার সম্মান বজায় রাখা প্রতিটি বাঙ্গালীর কর্তব্য।পতাকার প্রতি অসম্মান দেখানো মানে দেশকেই অপমান করা।নিজের মাকে অপমান করা।অবশ্য অনেক অভাগাই আছেন যারা নিজ মাকে বৃদ্ধাশ্রমে ফেলে আসেন।তাদের কাছে পতাকাও একটা ফেলনা কাপড় ছাড়া কিছুনা। আর সে জন্যই নীতিমালা করে এটার অসম্মান যেন না হয় তা নিশ্চিত করতে হবে।মনে রাখতে হবে পতাকা কেবল মাত্র এক টুকরো কাপড় নয়।
